TILE FAQ
Another reason we have an FAQ! Glazed tile is water-resistant when appropriately installed. However, it may not be a good choice for inside water usage areas such as a shower. Read the instructions and uses of the tile before purchase to see where the tile is approved for use. Or ask one of our team members for a water-proof tile recommendation.

Porcelain & ceramic tile are both made of water and clay, but porcelain contains higher-quality minerals like quartz and feldspar. The combination makes it denser and less porous and gives it a longer life. Porcelain may be a good choice for outdoor tile, where it may be exposed to colder temperatures and may be subject to heavy-duty use.
Yes, even if you don’t have them installed in a high-moisture area. Sealing helps protect against other damage, including water, wear, and tear, pet accidents, etc.
It depends on the type of tile, but it is usually a viable option. However, in some cases, the style or weight of the tile is incompatible with the wall or adhesive used. Therefore, we do not recommend you do this type of project yourself. Instead, call a trusted contractor in your area.
You may have your heart set on a particular type and style of tile for your project. But it may not work. You must select a tile based on the kind of project, such as the floor, room, backsplash, bathroom, indoor/outdoor, and others. It is also essential to measure the square footage of the tile you need, plus a little extra, just in case. You can then get a general idea of your budget and begin to shop.
FLOORING FAQ
Luxury Vinyl Tile, or LVT, has become a popular option because it doesn’t react to seasonal temperature or humidity changes. The product contains four layers:
- A durable vinyl backing
- Color layer made from vinyl
- Photographic film layer
- Top layer made from urethane or aluminum oxide for extra durability.
The final product is more durable than standard vinyl, meets or exceeds green energy standards, and looks much like more expensive and less durable hardwood floors, stones, and other high-end floorings.
Yes, LVT is waterproof. The resins used are impervious to water, allowing you to use them for flooring in your bathroom, kitchen, or other moisture-riddled areas. LVT is also ideal in different home rooms, such as the living room. For example, it is an excellent choice for someone who wants their bedroom floor and adjoining bathroom floor to flow continuously. LVT is also a good choice for great rooms or open spaces where the kitchen, dining, living, and other areas flow harmoniously.
However, we recommend professional installation of LVT to ensure the correct preparation, fit-ting, and other installation tasks, allowing the floor to resist water as intended.
We normally do not recommend luxury vinyl tile for outdoor uses. Sunlight, rain, snow, and freezing or hot temperatures can affect LVT’s color, look, and integrity. However, outdoor structures such as he and she sheds may be a good choice.
You may have furry friends with long nails who like to scratch. Or you may have some who are prone to “accidents.” LVT is more resistant to these types of damage than traditional vinyl, wooden floors, etc. However, it can become damaged over time. Therefore, we recommend trimming the pet’s nails and using pads whenever possible.
BATH FLOORING FAQ
Any water-resistant flooring is suited for a bathroom. The choice depends on your desired look, use, budget, and other factors. Our customers love LVT, especially its appearance, durability, and affordability. However, the choice of bath flooring is ultimately up to you.
In some cases, yes. It depends on the subfloor, type of LVT selected, room, etc. However, LVT is easy to cut, so you don’t need to install it under any cabinets or islands if you don’t want to.
